Long winded story followed by a question follows.
Before I met my wife, and learned to cook in a kitchen, I had a cheap wal-mart grill that fed me all the time. I moved into an apartment that didn’t allow a grill, and I gave it to my old roommate.
I was in and out of apartments where I couldn’t grill for 5 years.
I finally bought a house, and am free to grill whatever and whenever I want. I was excited to shop around for a new grill, but before I could buy one, my mother-in-law bought me a grill for my birthday. It’s a Wal-Mart “Char-Grill” 22.5 inch kettle. It hasn’t been a great grilling experience.
I would go buy another grill, but I don’t want my mother in law to feel like I’m ungrateful. I was thankful for the gesture, but it’s not the grill I wanted.
What would you recommend? Should I get aftermarket Weber parts, like grates and stuff and just soup this thing up?
The silver lining is that I’m a little rusty at grilling anyway, and this grill isn’t built to last. So worst comes to worst, and I wait the 2 or 3 years this thing has in it, then buy the one I want. Thanks!
Edit: forgot a word, and made myself look sexist. Fixed it.
