Beer Brats Experts: Do you grill the sausage BEFORE going into the beer bath to cook, or do you start in the beer and finish on the grill?

It's beer brat season up here in Ottawa (meaning, the weather is above 15 degrees C and there's no rain forecasted). Just curious how everyone else does their brats. Thanks!
