I want to make barbecued brisket. I have an open-top (lidless) charcoal grill, a slow cooker, and an oven. Is it possible?

Title says it all. Smoking is impossible with my current setup, so the coveted smoke ring is out of the question. Still, I'd like to try. I've had success with cooking ribs in the slow cooker and finishing them on the grill - would that work for brisket, as well? Help me get that sweet brisket into my mouth!
