Do 10 half-ashed briquettes output the same heat as 5 briquettes freshly hot from the chimney?

i.e. you lit 10 briquettes in a chimney, and after some time, they burned, and became half their size. Compare their heat to 5 briquettes out of chimney, just barely ash, fully hot.
